About Emily
Emily holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Central Florida where they served as a poetry reader and book review editor for The Florida Review. They also graduated magna cum laude from Saint Leo University in 2020 where they earned their BA in English. They had the honor of attending the summer 2024 Kenyon Writers Workshop where they studied under Ruth Awad, Tyree Daye, and Felicia Zamora, and was a 2025 Best of the Net nominee. They currently serve as a reader for ONLY POEMS.
Emily writes poems that reflect their experiences as a neurodivergent queer person. They write their truth bluntly and boldly in the hopes that someone will find themselves in their work’s raw openness or be challenged in their own worldview.
At the moment, Emily lives in Orlando, Florida with their partner and two cats. When not writing or editing, they can be found playing video games and birdwatching. They dream of working within the literary magazine space in a paid capacity in addition to their volunteer reading work and are currently open to career opportunities.
